Sauce vs. Juicer: The Key Differences

Although Juicer technically has a “Dynamic Pricing” offering within its product suite, a closer look will reveal that the functionality is extremely primitive when compared to a focused Dynamic Pricing vendor like Sauce. We actually have quite a few customers who have evaluated Juicer for Dynamic Pricing use cases. There are several key things to consider when comparing Dynamic Pricing capabilities like flexibility, integration support, strategy management, metrics, and control.

We’ve done our best to document the most important factors here. If you have an objection or see something that is wrong, please reach out to us at hello@saucepricing.com so we can make the appropriate change.

Integrations & Security

When implementing dynamic pricing, you want to make sure it works in a fast, reliable, and secure way in your technology stack. You need to be able to know exactly who has access to your point of sale system (POS), online ordering platforms, and pricing. Right now, Juicer outsources POS access to overseas teams for manual price changes, leaving your restaurants vulnerable to potential data breaches and unwanted human error. Sauce’s fully automated solution integrates through encrypted API pathways with no human involvement to update menu pricing.

You also need to be able to test dynamic pricing in an efficient way that makes the most value of your team’s time. Due to the level of manual involvement, getting started with Juicer may take weeks to months of involvement from your team, with additional complications when you want to deploy at scale. With Sauce you can connect easily to all of your favorite online ordering providers within minutes to get launched the same week, whether starting small or going large.

Pricing Strategies

Pricing Strategy customization should be high on your priority list. One of the best ways to evaluate this is to look at the access and flexibility to create the best dynamic pricing strategy for your business. You can actually use Sauce’s platform to generate and forecast custom pricing strategies with your preferences and data in real time, and you can host multiple pricing strategies for each location effortlessly. Juicer will ingest your data and provide a report of pricing opportunities, but you won’t have the ability to modify or adjust those pricing strategies online in their platform. You can also run hourly updating pricing strategies on hundreds of locations due to Sauce’s fully automated solution. In most cases, Juicer only supports daily price changes for limited numbers of locations.

Platform & Control

The most significant gap among restaurant dynamic pricing platforms is the level of control supported. If something critical comes up in the restaurant and you need to make a quick change to your pricing, you do that easily with Sauce. The Sauce dashboard supports both same-day edit capabilities, and the Sauce system will automatically detect changes in online menus so that your dynamic pricing system and online menus are always synced up. The Juicer platform does not provide support for critical real-time price edits that your team may need to make. With Sauce you can even go one step further and easily define roles (admins, editors, viewers) for your users.

Another big piece of your dynamic pricing platform is the ability to easily view your most important metrics, and know that your system is working the way you want it to. With Juicer you will receive offline reports, or a view of metrics they decide for you in a static unchangeable dashboard. Sauce’s fully customizable metrics page allows you to define and select the data you want to focus on, and assign custom groups to your locations for proper analysis. Sauce also lets you collect information like 3rd party conversion rates & customer retention, which isn’t available via Juicer.

Summary

Although Juicer can be a good option for a first party price comparison widget, for full scale dynamic pricing, Sauce offers better features for restaurant marketing, IT, and finance teams.
